Morpho adonis, the Adonis morpho, is a Neotropical butterfly, found in Venezuela, Suriname, French Guiana, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, and Peru. This particular illustration is regarded as the most popular of Charles Dessalines D' Orbigny's (1806-1876) butterfly studies.

Digitally enhanced from the 1892 edition of Dictionnaire Universel D'histoire Naturelle, our work carefully preserves the fine detail of the original illustration, whilst enhancing the naturally vibrant colour of the subject.
